LAKE OCONEE ACADEMY LIBRARY MEDIA ASSISTANT
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The library media assistant performs a variety of functions and tasks in the Lake Oconee Academy Media Center assisting the Library Media Specialist in the daily operation of the media center. The assistant also assists teachers and students in the full use of the library media center. These duties are assigned to successfully complete the responsibilities of this position and are approved by the CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Operate the library catalog, Destiny, for circulating books for students and teachers.
  • Staff the circulation desk in the lower media center.
  • Shelve returned books and replace incorrectly shelved books. All incoming books should be shelved by the end of each day.
  • Assist students and teachers in the selection/location of materials in the media center.
  • Staff the circulation desk at the middle/high school library area Monday-Friday during Titan Time (9:00-9:45) and maintain that area.
  • Select, locate and deliver special request materials for teachers when requested.
  • Assist with overdue notices and cataloging when requested.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist with special library activities such as the book fair and other special events held by the library.
  • Assist with end of the year inventory of library materials.
  • Receive phone calls and walk-in patrons and provide information and assistance.
  • Maintain the library in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Assist in maintaining the discipline of students.
  • Assist the media specialist when requested.
  • Perform related work as required and assigned by the CEO or his designee and performed and overseen under the direction of the Library Media Specialist.
