Your core responsibilities include responding to inquiries, aiding users, and cultivating exceptional experiences for both adults and children. In addition to these duties, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining order, contributing to marketing initiatives, showcasing creative displays, and actively participating in planning engaging programs. Your role extends to interfacing with City colleagues and the public, offering administrative support, and embodying a dedicated library professional - a pivotal force in enhancing the world of literature and knowledge. This position does not provide direction to other employees.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
This information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position. The following examples do not identify all duties performed by any single incumbent.
  • Provides customer service by greeting customers, answering questions both in person and over the phone, directing calls to other staff members, and taking messages.
  • Coordinates the safe and proper use of the facility and its equipment by ensuring the facility is clean and orderly, and by supervising patrons.
  • Assists in opening and/or closing the facility by organizing desk/work area, maintaining transaction records, activates and shuts down equipment in the area.
  • As assigned, assists with programs and special events, providing services as required by the type of event, including designing and developing program information and advertisements; creating and preparing crafts and props for programs; and supervising volunteers. Assists with and develops brochures, signs and other marketing tools.
  • Provides administrative support by ensuring operational functions are completed, overseeing the use of library facilities, preparing and keeping statistics. Maintains equipment, materials, supplies and props as necessary.
  • Other duties may include providing services for a specified area of the library, such as the Reference or Information desk, by answering basic reference and readers' advisory questions, planning and assisting with adult programs, and assisting patrons with use of computers and study rooms.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • Bachelor's degree with no prior relevant work experience
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Certification and Other Requirements
Valid Texas Class C Drivers License.
Work Schedule
This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
Schedule:
  • Saturday 10 am - 6 pm
  • Monday 10 am - 2 pm
  • Tuesday 5 pm - 9 pm
  • Friday 2 pm - 6 pm
