Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD or PsyD in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
  • Licensed as a Psychologist in Georgia; maintain all licenses and certifications needed to supervise graduate student therapists.
  • Three years of higher education teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in management of clinical/counseling centers.
  • Experience in clinical supervision of students/clinic staff.


Job Duties & Responsibilities:

This position could be hired as a .75FTE position as Doctoral Internship Coordinator/Clinic Director of Ivester House or could be a 1.0FTE position as both DIC/Clinic Director of Ivester House and Norcross Clinic Director or Assistant Clinic Director of the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychology Services in Norcross.


1. Doctoral Internship Coordinator

  • Plan, organize, and direct a doctoral psychology internship collaborative run out of the Ivester House location of the Brenau Center for Counseling and Psychological Services.
  • Lead recruitment and selection process for interns
  • Maintain awareness of internship requirements and communicate the requirements to all agencies in the collaborative; ensure compliance with training and APA/APPIC accreditation standards.
  • Maintain communication and contracts/MOUs with other collaborative and partner agencies, including scheduling regular meetings to evaluate ongoing operation of the collaborative as well as to evaluate intern progress.
  • Plan and manage intern rotations across sites and verify qualifications of site supervisors; ensure that interns receive a high-quality and comprehensive training experience.
  • Provide clinical supervision to interns for their clinical work at the Ivester House and partner sites.
  • Plan and manage required didactic training, including scheduling didactic trainers from collaborative and partner sites.
  • Maintain doctoral internship collaborative program records
  • Manage program evaluation of internship collaborative


2. Director of BCCPS Norcross and Ivester House Clinics

  • Provides clinical teaching through individual supervision of graduate students placed at the BCCPS Norcross who are seeing therapy and assessment clients.
  • Assists in the grading process for students in Practicum and Internship placements by providing written evaluation of each student’s clinical performance. These evaluations are completed at the conclusion of each semester.
  • Collaborate with department chair and/or graduate coordinator to recruit, hire, and supervise clinic staff including Assistant Clinic Director, Clinical supervisors, and Clinic coordinators
  • Coordinate staff development activities for staff assigned to the clinic.
  • Orient and train graduate student counselors and clinic coordinators.
  • Supervise intake assessment services and case assignment.
  • Develop and monitor systems and resources required to support therapy services including scheduling of clients and maintaining library of assessments and therapy materials
  • Perform staff evaluations for direct report staff.
  • Develop and maintain routine policies and procedures.
  • Serve as on-call clinical supervisor.
  • Liaison with Student Counseling Director to coordinate psychology services to Brenau students
  • Identify community needs for psychology services.

3. Fiscal Oversight

With Department Chair, manage fiscal aspects of clinic:

  • Recommend clinic budget to Department Chair and monitor budget.
  • Monitor and approve clinic expenditures.
  • Develop a fee schedule.
  • Supervise billing and reimbursement activities; work with appropriate Brenau offices to deposit clinic income in designated accounts.
  • Monitor and approve payment of clinic coordinators.


4. Marketing of clinic services

  • Develop and maintain a referral list for clients who need services outside the scope of the clinic.
  • With Assistant Clinic Director, develop and implement marketing plans to support clinic identity.
  • Build referral relationships
  • In collaboration with Public Relations, develop and maintain marketing materials.

5. Extramural funding

  • In collaboration with Department Chair and Institutional Advancement, develop grant and alternative funding opportunities.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise, manage, and motivate an individual/team to achieve departmental goals.


Work Hours:
If full-time, 37.5 hours per week. Generally, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Nights/weekends as needed.


If ¾ time, 30 hours per week. Generally, Monday - Friday. Hours may be extended to meet the needs of the department. Nights/weekends as needed.


Appointment Length:

12 months, continuous

Environmental and Working Conditions/ Physical Demands and Aptitudes:
Mostly Sedentary work. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment related to teaching. Prolonged periods sitting and standing. worker is required to have close visual acuity to grade papers, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to travel short distances, and/or drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up materials. Exerting up to 15 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Some repetitive motion.

Brenau University conducts various screenings to ensure a safe and secure environment. These checks are a condition of employment and may be performed at different times throughout employment. To be approved for university travel, employees must meet the following criteria: be at least 21 years old, have and maintain a valid Georgia driver's license, and have and maintain a good driving record. As a condition of employment, employees must report any arrest (within five days of its occurrence) to the Office of Human Resources, including traffic violations for those listed on our auto insurance policy.
