Do you love working with kids? Thrive in high-energy environments? Want to make a real difference while having fun? Join the team at the City of Sandy Springs Recreation & Parks Department and help create unforgettable summer experiences for youth ages 6–12.

As a Summer Camp Counselor, you’ll be a mentor, role model, coach, and camp champion. Every day brings new activities, new challenges, and new opportunities to positively impact young lives.

Seasonal Time Frame: June 1st - July 24th


What You’ll Do

You’ll help plan and deliver safe, structured, and engaging camp programs while fostering teamwork, creativity, and personal growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising campers in recreational, athletic, and creative activities

  • Leading or assisting with games, sports, arts & crafts, and group activities

  • Preparing and maintaining recreational facilities for safe use

  • Ensuring a welcoming, inclusive, and positive camp environment

  • Monitoring activities to uphold safety policies and procedures

  • Completing required reports accurately and promptly

  • Collaborating with fellow staff to create an enriching camp experience

  • In some roles, operating a 12-passenger van to transport campers to field trips

Schedule Note:
Part-time seasonal role (maximum 29 hours per week). Some evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required.


What We’re Looking ForMinimum Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. may be required for some positions

  • Valid driver’s license (with proper endorsement) for driving positions

  • Ability to pass:

    • Criminal background check

    • Drug screening

    • Clean driving record (if applicable)

Preferred Qualifications
  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Playground and water safety knowledge

  • Experience leading or participating in youth recreational activities
