Job description

The Building Systems Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker II to perform as a member of the Library Building Systems Group providing prompt, courteous, and effective repairs and maintenance of Library buildings, grounds, furnishings, equipment to ensure that they are comfortable and functional.
The mission of the St. Louis County Library is to provide the resources and services to enrich individual minds, enhance lives and expand perspectives. SLCL is an award winning library system with branches throughout St. Louis County. We have transformed into a meaningful community resource with updated facilities and an array of programs and partnerships that serve over 860,000 patrons.


Salary: $45,698.00

Hours: 40 hours per week

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Provides quality repairs and maintenance of Library buildings to maintain district buildings in top working condition.
  2. Provides prompt and courteous personal assistance and communication with all Library staff to assist the Building Systems Group in building solid working relationships, district-wide.
  3. Participates in off-hour service and quarterly building inspections at assigned branches to support the Library operation schedule and minimize closings. This is a wee long on-call rotation split between six other staff members, an on-call phone will be provided.
  4. Assist in the provision of Library improvements and upgrades to improve the quality of programs and service the district offers to its customers.
  5. Assists in project organization and maintains personal readiness to perform standard tasks to contribute personally to the Building Systems Group team effort.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Trade school and a minimum of two years of job related experience, or 5+ years in a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics
  • Must be able to pass drug screening
  • Possess good record keeping skills
  • Possess a valid driverโ€™s license with a good driving record
  • Must possess a commitment to a high level of public service
  • Experience with work order software preferred
