Job description

Summary:
Perform the day-to-day functions and promote programs offered for the education of students. Catalog books in an orderly fashion and promote good housekeeping of the library facility.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan and run lessons based on a library curriculum.
Implement technology use lessons as part of the library curriculum
Maintenance of cataloging, circulation, shelves, and of the physical environment.
Keep records up to date and do monthly reports based on the records.
Check out and check in student and teacher materials and read to students.
Assist students and teachers in finding materials they need for both reading and research.
Assist the certificated librarian to make the library an extension of the classroom by continually educating self on technology, reading programs and materials, and curriculum needs of our teachers and students.
Assists and prepares necessary LMC reports.
Minimum Requirements:
Education
-High School Diploma/GED
-At least 60 college hours or a DESE approved sub ceftification
-School based library experience preferred
Knowledge
-Know the Dewey Decimal System and be able to teach it to the students
-Maintain classroom environment
-Know the reading programs and materials of the district
Skills
-Computer and technology skills and troubleshoot technology requests
-Management of students, interpersonal skills
-Read aloud in a way that holds the attention and interest of students
-Maintenance of AV equipment such as but not limited to TVs, VCRs, DVDs, etc.
Physical Requirements
-Must be able to work on feet for long periods of time
-Able to communicate effectively and build rapport with staff and students
-Must be able to multi-task and work with continuous interruptions
-Can read, climb, or access necessary library shelved materials
-Lifting and carrying of books
