Job description

Salary: $17.46 / hour

The Jefferson County Library's Northwest Branch is looking for a creative, driven individual who is committed to working in a collaborative work environment to provide access to library services and programming to our community.


Our Adult Services clerks routinely answer technology, research, and library services questions for the public in a fast-paced environment. They also provide high quality programming across a wide range of topics, delivering in-house instruction or seeking outsourced instructors on everything from art projects to life skills to book clubs and more. Our Adult Services team members are experts in the resources our library provides to the public, and are dedicated to connecting people to those services so we can be everyone's place to learn, grow, connect, and achieve.


Scheduling:

  • Part time, 28 hours per week (firm)
  • Evenings and Saturday shifts are required
  • Includes paid holidays, sick time, and vacation time

Responsibilities:

  • Provide basic technical help to our patrons about their personal devices, Office and Google Suite software, library databases, and library content apps.
  • Connect patrons with research tools to answer reference and general knowledge questions.
  • Curate community-relevant programs and/or partner with outside presenters to provide timely, accurate, and enjoyable activities for adult members of the community.
  • Work in tandem with pertinent staff members to market programs, and represent the library in the community.
  • Become a passport agent.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, plus a minimum 60 hours college credit or four years related experience in library setting with progressively increasing job responsibilities, or four years of specialized training and experience in a specialty such as bookkeeping. Prior library experience preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience using a multi-line phone system, planning and executing programs or presentations, and familiarity with a wide range of personal technologies (phones, tablets, computers, etc) are all a plus.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
