Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions: Assist patrons with library materials; assists the public with correct use of catalog, copy machine and computer equipment, locating books, periodicals and other materials; maintains library materials by proper shelf order; processes materials for the library files; prepares statistical reports; types assigned reports; assists with other library records management or projects; shelves books.
Other Job Functions: Maintains and assist with processing materials; performs other library and clerical functions as required. Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job title. Working Conditions
This position requires 100% on-site work. Works in a normal office environment. Must be available to work Monday thru Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., various hours library is open.
Minimum Essential Qualifications
Knowledge: Knowledge of library techniques and procedures desired.
Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively; ability to follow written and oral instructions; ability to operate equipment including adding machine, PC, and typewriter; ability to type 30 wpm; ability to communicate with the public in a tactful and effective manner; ability to maintain library and archival records; skill in alphabetizing and mathematical calculations; ability to read and make decisions.
Physical Requirements: Constantly sees and hears; frequently stands, cleans desk area, kneels, operates PC, performs data entry, stoops, twists body, walks, write by hand; infrequently answers the telephone, files, sorts, sits, types, operates a printer, operates a calculator, carries, holds, lifts, drags and pulls objects weighing up to 30 lbs., pushes object weighing up to 70 lbs. and squats.
Education/Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent; minimum six (6) months library or records management experience, including typewriter and/or personal computer experience.
