A Glimpse of the Job

The Texas A&M University Libraries are seeking Assistant and Associate level Research & Scholarly Initiatives Librarians. In this role, the Librarian works to provide highimpact research support that helps researchers plan, execute, share, and demonstrate the influence of their work. As the Librarian, you'll collaborate with researchers through consultations, workshops, online resource development, and project partnerships while contributing to the creation and maintenance of tools and services that strengthen the Libraries' scholarly support system. This role focuses on areas such as grant support, research impact, systematic reviews, and services connected to the Patent and Trademark Resource Center (PTRC), playing a key part in elevating the visibility and effectiveness of research across campus.

This is an on-campus opportunity. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at our College Station campus.

Salary:

  • Salary for an Assistant Librarian is $62,900.00 annually with a $3,000.00 allowance for professional development.

  • Salary for an Associate Librarian is $72,335.00 annually with a $3,000.00 allowance for professional development.

Opportunities to Contribute

Research & Scholarly Initiatives Support

Provides library research support services focusing on optimizing the ability of researchers to plan, execute, disseminate, and relate the impact of their research. Aids in the development and maintenance of resources that support library scholarly services. Provides research assistance which includes individual consultations, workshops, online resource creation, and collaboration with scholars on research projects.

Specialized Research Support

Provides research support to one or more research areas which may include grants, research impact, systematic reviews, and/or support of the Patent and Trademark Resources Center (PTRC). Collaborates with other Research & Scholarly Initiatives Librarians on designated research support area. Assists in campus education efforts and services supporting designated research area.

Collaborations & Partnerships

Participates in departmental and interdepartmental meetings and activities as a Research & Scholarly Initiatives Librarian in the Research & Digital Scholarship unit. Collaborate with colleagues on the design, delivery, assessment, and promotion of library programs and services for research support.

Contributions to the Profession

Participates in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development and to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs. Services on campus and library committees and engages with campus units to advocate for Library presence in campus research initiatives.

Qualifications

Assistant Librarian

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • No experience is required.

A well-qualified candidate may also possess:

  • Experience with research impact, scholarly initiatives, grants, systematic review, or patents.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of academic library functions.

  • Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of customers and employees.

Associate Librarian

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master's degree in Library Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 5 years of related experience.

A well-qualified candidate may also possess:

  • Experience with research impact, scholarly initiatives, grants, systematic review, or patents.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Knowledge of academic library functions.

  • Ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of customers and employees.
