Located on six Georgia State University campuses throughout metro Atlanta, the University Library provides faculty and students with open and inviting educational facilities and an active online experience. As an integral part of the University community, the library welcomed more than 1.4 million visitors in the past year. The University Library is seeking to hire a Library Team Associate II on a full-time basis at our Atlanta campus. The scope of the responsibilities will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following:
  • Copy cataloging shelf ready and non-shelf ready monographic books with Library of Congress copy when possible, for the Atlanta and PC libraries and maintain GSU holdings information in OCLC for items cataloged. This routine task includes data entry and word processing using library software.
  • Complete assigned training in the area of library resource cataloging to include catalog record structure, MARC, RDA, Library of Congress subject headings, Library of Congress Genre Form Terms, and the Library of Congress classification system in addition training of the use of library related software.
  • Complete the physical processing of cataloged physical items and distribute items to the appropriate departments and campus libraries in a timely and efficient manner and maintain discrete physical monograph collections at the Atlanta campus.
  • Monitor communication channels used by the library to identify and resolve cataloging problems and requests in already cataloged volumes identified by other departments (reference transfers, missing barcodes/labels, etc.).
  • Assist, at appropriate level, with database cleanup and enhancement projects, to include physical inventories.
  • Check online discoverability for recently loaded electronic resources to ensure that library inventory is accessible to library users.
  • Assist the department with projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED and three (3) years of related experience, or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:
  • Proven data entry work experience.
  • Experience working in an academic library.
  • Experience with Library of Congress Classification and Subject Headings.
  • Experience working with Ex Libris Alma.
