Job description

The Library Assistant is responsible for providing excellent customer service to the Southeastern community in three public service areas of the library: Circulation, Floor, and Reference.
  • Staffs the Circulation Desk by welcoming patrons in a friendly manner, assisting patrons with circulation functions, and engaging with patrons in a winsome manner.
  • Maintains the circulating and reference library collections by shelving, straightening, and shelf reading.
  • Assists patrons at the Reference Desk by guiding them with research, teaching them how to use library resources, and helping them locate helpful research materials.

Required:
  • This position is restricted to current SEBTS students and spouses of SEBTS students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work well as a team

Preferred:
  • One year library/customer service experience
  • Basic computer knowledge (eg. Microsoft Word)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Desired:
  • Knowledge of basic research skills
  • Ability to relate well to people in stressful situations
