Job description

Work Study Library Student

Maxwell Library is a focal point of activity for the BSU community, supporting the teaching, learning and research needs of more than 11,000 students and 300 faculty members. Located on the West Campus, the library provides a variety of information resources and electronic tools for student and faculty use in a comfortable and inviting environment. Library Student Assistants will be responsible to the following:

  • Provide excellent customer services at the Access Services Desk
  • Answer patron questions and direct patrons to the appropriate library staff member
  • Shelve books and other library materials
  • Shelf read books and clean the stacks
  • Retrieve holds from the stacks and assist patrons with retrieving books
  • Use the library database to check books in and out
  • Perform daily patron counts throughout the library
  • Other duties as assigned

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a Bridgewater State University undergraduate student registered for a minimum of six credits for the Fall 2026 semester.
  • Must have Work Study award in your financial aid package

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a customer service environment.
  • General office skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands: Ability to bend, stand and push a book cart.
