Job description


TITLE: Access Services Library Assistant
DEPARTMENT: Library
SUPERVISOR: Michael Dennis
SCHEDULE: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8 pm to 1 am
General Statement of Duties: The Part-Time Library Assistant helps students, faculty, and staff at the Library Circulation Desk. The part-time library assistant position is a non-benefitted position.
Responsibilities:
  1. Supervises part-time student workers
  2. Renews and discharges library materials
  3. Helps users locate and use materials
  4. Opens and closes the library
  5. Manages library collections by inventorying, shifting, shelf-reading and barcoding
  6. Assists with interlibrary loan processing
  7. Works on special projects
  8. Collects fines
  9. Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
  1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  2. Outstanding customer services skills
  3. Attention to detail
  4. Experience using Microsoft Office applications
  5. Associates degree or equivalent college experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Previous customer service experience
  2. Previous experience working within libraries
