Job Title: SW Fabrication Kitter
Location: Saint Charles, MO
Schedule: 230pm-11pm
Compensation: $19.56/hr
Job Summary
As the SW Fabrication Kitter, you will be responsible for ensuring that all fabricated items leaving the shop are properly collated, assembled into kits, and closed out before passing to the next production phase. You will also train and hold associates accountable to established processes and manage all elements of the kitting process, including BOMs, kit/item/location creation, and ongoing maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Work off priority lists from PIC Manager / GSC Director until fully trained to develop your own lists
Determine ideal kit sizes using historical production data
Create kit item numbers in IQMS
Setup and maintain locations in IQMS aligned with kitting checklists
Assign cart (or skid) configurations, document item placement, and upload diagrams to IQMS document library
Define “max work order size” and “multiples of” settings in IQMS
Print and maintain all labels required in the kitting process
Train manufacturing associates in proper kitting protocols
Monitor and enforce compliance with all associate training and processes
Serve as backup in engineering tasks (e.g., building BOMs from concept)
Maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials) in IQMS, implementing engineering edits as necessary
Liaise with internal teams to ensure materials are available per production schedules
Use ERP systems to manage material flow and ensure correct quantities are in correct places
Coordinate with Purchasing, Production Management, and Engineering on process optimization
Participate in physical inventory tasks (preparation, counting, data entry)
Communicate expectations on safety, quality, and productivity, and perform regular inspections
Develop training materials and procedures for associates
Maintain department data integrity (dashboards, paperwork)
Work extended hours before/after shift as necessary
Uphold company guidelines and Code of Conduct
Identify and resolve departmental problems; escalate when needed
Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless downstream operations
Maintain excellent attendance and model safe work practices
Keep department neat (5S) and compliant with OSHA and internal safety regulations
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Required Skills & Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing or fabrication environments
Proficient in using barcode readers, computers, and other electronic devices
Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to take initiative and follow tasks through with little supervision
Demonstrated leadership capability and team coordination
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (especially IQMS is a plus)
Familiarity with BOM creation and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in fabrication, assembly, or kitting roles
Experience working with crossfunctional teams (engineering, purchasing, production)
Demonstrated success in training others
Strong organizational and multitasking skills
