Part Time - 25 hours per week
SCHEDULE:
Monday 8am-1pm, Tuesday 12pm-5pm, Wednesday 12pm-5pm, Thursday 3pm-8pm, Friday either 8am-1pm or 1pm-6pm
Every 3 weeks: Saturday 8am-5pm and Sunday 12pm-4pm
Summary:
Performs circulation and clerical functions to serve the library's patrons in a friendly manner and to maintain circulation of the library's various materials.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Greets and assists patrons in meeting their needs during their visit to the library, including circulation of materials.
  • Performs other patron services including computer searches for materials, putting items on reserve, signing patrons up for programs, registering patrons for new or renewed library cards, answering any patron account-related questions and collecting fines on overdue accounts.
  • Maintains a positive and friendly attitude when dealing with the public.
  • Performs functions to keep library materials organized, including discharging or materials, arranging books on carts for proper shelving, securing items in cases, shelving, shelf reading and periodic dusting of shelves.
  • May provide various reference services to the patrons; answers questions, assists in locating materials and instructs patrons in the use of library's resources; ensures that patrons receive results to their satisfaction.
  • Assists patrons by answering basic questions concerning Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, the Library's computer time management system, Internet use, and devices.
  • Performs various activities to maintain the organizational aspects of the summer book club including registering patrons, keeping records of reading activity and issuing prizes.
  • Attends staff and department meetings; may take meeting minutes.
  • Keeps copier stocked with paper and maintains paper and toner reserve.
  • Performs other functions assigned to position to ensure effective and smooth continuity of operations and transactions in the best interest of the library.

ACCOUNTABILITY:
Is responsible for accurate handling of payment transactions and maintains confidentiality.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION:
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Exam (HSE). Must have a valid U.S. driver's license.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of: Database Software; Internet Software; Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Publishing Software (Publisher); Presentation software (PowerPoint); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); Integrated Library System (ILS) software, Room and Event software; and Scheduling software; and Mobile Devices including eReaders; and skills to work in Mac & PC environment.
