Company Description

The Molecular Vision Laboratory is a medical diagnostic laboratory providing state of the art genetic and genomic diagnostic tests. Our laboratory originated from the Casey Molecular Diagnostic Laboratory at the Oregon Health and Science University where our team of laboratory director, lab technicians and bioinformatics scientists performed genetic and genomic diagnostic tests for over five years. We have recently moved out of the University system and established a diagnostic laboratory open to the broad medical and research community and continue our dedication to the translation of the cutting edge research to clinical care.

Job Description

Molecular Vision Lab is seeking laboratory research associates/ assistants to join our rapidly growing clinical services laboratory.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Carefully execute detailed standard operating procedures in a CLIA certified laboratory including sequence library preparation, hybridization assays, and DNA quality analysis.

Implement quality management procedures, LIMS tracking, data entry, protocol/process deviation documentation.

Carry out DNA molecular methods including DNA isolation, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR and NGS.

Produce, analyze, document and report results, achieving high quality data in a timely manner.

Proactive, troubleshoot, rapidly propose solutions and/or seek help.

Work neatly, keep lab bench and storage areas clean.

Adjust and adapt to new SOPs and workflows as throughput capacity grows.

Professionally handle the pressure of aggressive deadlines while maintaining data quality.

Flexible hours and open to working on weekends if necessary.

Demonstrated organizational abilities and capable of successfully carrying out a variety of detailed tasks.

Support supply and reagent inventory management.

Qualifications

BS/MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or related field.

Demonstrated experience with molecular methods including DNA isolation, fragmentation, PCR, qPCR, ddPCR and NGS library preparation.

Must have excellent organizational skills and be able to maintain careful attention to detail.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience keeping accurate and detailed laboratory records.

Capable of working independently as well as in a team environment with the ability to analyze, interpret data, recognize quality failures and proactively seek help.

Proficiency with standard software (e.g. Microsoft Office) is required.

Ability to thrive in a demanding start-up environment with a positive, productive, professional attitude.

Experience in a high throughput molecular lab or services lab is desirable.

Experience with automated liquid handling platforms is a plus.

Must be a US citizen or have been lawfully admitted for permanent residence. Individuals on temporary or student visas are not eligible.
