Job description

Department:Library Services Department

Organizational Unit:Library Services Merritt Island Library

Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time

$21.94 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Central Area/Merritt Island Public Library. Work schedule is variable and includes evenings and weekends.Performs experienced paraprofessional library work supervising the Circulation section of the library. Supervises other paraprofessional employees and volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS: Two (2) years of college coursework at an accredited college or university [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year]PLUStwo (2) years of progressively responsible library experience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have completed, or must complete within eighteen (18) months of employment, all of the classes for all three (3) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination. When usage statistics change, library employees may be assigned to another library. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
