Job Overview

The Processing Library Assistant works on a variety of acquisitions, cataloging, and processing related tasks in the Nicholas Suite. These may include new book processing, relabeling, mending, withdrawals, music score binding, new book copy cataloging, and resolving cataloging issues. This position pays $15/hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

Physical processing of books and other items (applying stamps, call number labels, etc.)

Unpacking boxes of books and organizing them

Mending of damaged books

Binding new music scores and pamphlets

Copy cataloging and resolving cataloging issues

Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Attention to detail

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to learn Library of Congress, Dewey, and other classification systems

Ability to learn new computer systems

Demonstrated reliability and trustworthiness

Qualifications

Current Wheaton College undergraduate or graduate student

Good critical thinking skills

Good communication skills (written and verbal)
