Job description

Weyerhaeuser Lumber Mill, in Cottage Grove, OR, has immediate openings for Journeyman Millwrights. All candidates must be safety conscious, self-motivated, possess excellent communication skills, be experienced in working with other crafts, and have a desire to work in a market focused, team environment.

Competitive wage at $36.380 an hour with additional skill-based pay levels ranging from $39.18 - $40.85. Once employed, test up!

Comprehensive benefit package including Health Insurance, with family coverage ranging from $12.00 - $32.00 per paycheck. Health Savings Account, dental & vision, 401(k) with company match up to 2 % plus an additional 5% company contribution. 2-weeks' vacation, 9 scheduled holidays, with 2 additional float holidays and state sick time front loaded at 40 hours. Plus, discounted Weyerhaeuser recreation permits.

Qualified candidates will have a thorough comprehensive knowledge of preventative maintenance, reliability and processes and techniques to safely repair, modify, install and maintain the facility and high-tech manufacturing equipment.

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must hold a Journeyman card.

Experience

  • Mechanical ability is required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Millwright strongly preferred.
  • Experience in the Woods Products industry preferred.

Specific Skills

  • Qualified and proficient in cutting and welding. Certified welder preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge/proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
  • Knowledge and troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, piping, and material transfer systems.
  • Experience working with equipment such as: chains, belts, sprockets, and hand tools. 
  • Knowledge and experience in basic computer skills including Outlook, Excel, Word, web-based applications including the internet, and preventative maintenance application.
  • Knowledge and ability to use Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Show proficiency in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) standards.
  • Ability to work closely with supervisors and other departments; be a team player/leader; good communication skills and demonstrate positive attitude.
  • Willingness to work any shift, including weekends on 10- or 13-hour shifts
  • Maintain a clean workstation, and exhibit good performance, safety and attendance records.

Must

  • Submit a resume.
  • Be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and physical.
  • Wear all safety equipment and obey all safety rules.
  • Participate in safety initiatives, including exhibiting safe work practices and helping others work safely.
  • Be proficient in the use of hand and power tools as well as precision measuring and testing equipment.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems.
  • Be able to work all shifts, including nights and weekends (No mandatory OT).
  • Be able to perform labor-intensive work.
  • Have a sense of urgency in terms of maximizing production and minimizing down time is necessary in this type of manufacturing environment.
  • Must be comfortable working above the ground at times, and outside as necessary.
  • Be able to perform essential duties include but are not limited to stooping, climbing and crawling in and over machines for repair purposes and the ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
