Schedule:
Monday - Friday; schedule varies by project
Summary of Duties:
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for performing and overseeing skilled carpentry work across residential framing and finish carpentry projects. This role combines hands-on field work with crew leadership - directing daily job site operations, maintaining quality standards, and coordinating with project and property management teams to ensure work is completed on time and to scope.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled carpentry work including residential framing, interior and exterior trim, doors, windows, stairs, cabinetry, and finish detail
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and project specifications to plan and execute work accurately
  • Lead and manage carpentry crew members on active job sites - assign tasks, set daily expectations, and hold crew accountable to quality, safety, and attendance standards
  • Mentor less experienced crew members and address performance issues promptly and professionally
  • Coordinate with property managers and maintenance teams to prioritize and complete repair and maintenance work orders
  • Communicate material needs, scheduling conflicts, and site issues to the Project Manager in a timely manner
  • Apply general construction knowledge to support project needs across disciplines as required
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and professional job site at all times
  • Represent Premier professionally in all interactions with property owners, managers, and clients
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational objectives

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in residential framing and finish carpentry
  • General construction knowledge and field experience
  • Experience leading or managing field employees
  • Property maintenance or property management experience preferred
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Successful completion of required criminal record and motor vehicle record background checks
  • Ability to pass a drug screening

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather and field conditions
  • Ability to lift, carry, and position materials up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to work at heights, on ladders, and in confined spaces as required
  • Moderate to high noise levels on active construction sites

Required Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong working knowledge of carpentry tools, materials, and methods
  • Ability to lead a crew and communicate expectations clearly in a field environment
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship
  • Self-directed and reliable with consistent attendance and professionalism
