Job description

Role Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Trial Law Clerk to join our high-volume litigation team. The ideal candidate has direct experience with ex parte applications and trial continuance procedures, excels under pressure, and can manage a large volume of trial documents with speed and precision. Lemon Law experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Ex Parte Applications & Trial Continuances

  • Draft, file, and serve ex parte applications for expert designations, expert unavailability, lead counsel unavailability, client unavailability, and trial continuances
  • Prepare stipulations to continue trials and stipulations for expert unavailability
  • Monitor ex parte deadlines, notice requirements, and hearing calendars
  • Coordinate with opposing counsel on stipulated continuances

Trial Support & Document Assembly

  • Serve as the primary trial support person - organized, calm under pressure, and available to attorneys throughout proceedings
  • Assemble trial binders including exhibit lists, motions in limine, jury instructions, and witness files
  • Draft trial briefs, proposed orders, and post-trial motions

Drafting & High-Volume Document Management

  • Draft complaints, motions, declarations, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other pleadings under tight deadlines
  • Proofread and format documents to ensure compliance with state and federal court rules

Court Filings & Calendaring

  • E-file and serve pleadings in California state and federal courts
  • Track all litigation deadlines, trial dates, ex parte hearings, and statutes of limitation

Case Management & Communication

  • Organize and maintain electronic and physical case files across a large active docket
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court clerks, opposing counsel, and internal team members

Requirements

  • J.D. required from an ABA-accredited law school
  • 0-5 years of litigation experience; trial-side experience strongly preferred
  • Direct experience drafting ex parte applications for trial continuances, expert designations, expert/counsel/client unavailability, and related stipulations
  • Strong knowledge of California state and federal court filing rules, e-filing procedures, and litigation deadlines
  • Exceptional drafting, proofreading, and attention to detail across high document volume
  • Tech-savvy: proficient in Microsoft Office, document management systems, e-filing platforms, and trial presentation technology
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and thrive in a fast-paced, demanding environment with minimal supervision
  • Lemon Law or consumer protection experience is a plus
