Job Description
Make meaningful contributions that fuel critical outcomes for some of the most complex government, defense, and intelligence projects. Join GDIT as a Word Processor II for a career where your growth is just as important as the mission you support.As a Word Processor II, the work youll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of the Information Management Communication Services Program at Fort Rucker, Alabama. You will play a crucial role in providing technical writing skills to draft, revise, or write materials and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of IT systems and other equipment.Selected candidate will provide on-site support at our Fort Rucker, AL facility.
MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:
  • Provide clerical support to the program with technical writing skills to draft, revise, or write materials which include standardization for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, and related technical and administrative publications.
  • Collaborate with peers and our government customer to ensure mission success.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite, Army365, SharePoint, Microsoft VIsio and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Facilitating order/document preparation and processing.
  • Provide customer escort to various base facility locations.
  • Perform monthly visual inspections of various organizational facilities and other requirements.
  • Provide support with the overall building infrastructure related to all IT systems residing within NEC facilities and with the preparation of, and tracking to completion, of DPW work orders.
  • Ensure all services/tests are scheduled and documented for backup generators, UPS, and HVAC units, fire detection, network surveillance systems.
  • Coordinate with DPW, vendors, and suppliers for system sustainment, follow an on- call escalation process for all Data Center infrastructure outages,
  • Responsible for vetting access requests to designated telecommunications rooms on the installation through the LNEC Security Coordinator.
  • Maintain a log of all access granted, including the name, title, and organization of the personnel, date, and time of access.
  • Comprehensive oversight services for environmental control and fire suppression systems, ensuring operational reliability, compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Ensure fire suppression systems are perpetually operational and ready to actuate in emergency conditions.
  • Ensure regular inspections and testing are scheduled and conducted by the local Department of Public Works, reporting any inspections that are past due to the Government for corrective action.
  • Ensure fire extinguishers are available, accessible, and positioned in all NEC managed facilities in compliance with legal and safety standards. Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and replacements as necessary.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED (Required):
Bring your technical writing expertise along with a drive for innovation to GDIT. The Word Processor II must have:Clearance: Active Secret security clearance required.Education: High School Diploma/GED.Experience: 1+ years of related experience.Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of digital preparation using Army365 typing, duplication and distribution of material.
  • Computer literacy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage time efficiently.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Experience with Army365 products (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, SharePoint) as well as Microsoft Visio, Microsoft Project; knowledge of relevant regulations such as AR 2550, AR 254002 and industry standards.

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $15.33 - $20.73. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
