Smart Law is a respected legal firm with over 28 years of service dedicated to delivering exceptional legal services with professionalism and integrity. We are seeking a dependable and motivated Legal Assistant to join our Worker’s Compensation team and support our Senior Legal Assistant and Attorney. This role is an important part of a collaborative team focused on providing compassionate, professional service to our clients.

Position Summary:
The Legal Assistant works as part of a team with the assigned Senior Legal Assistant and Attorney to provide day-to-day and administrative support. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This position will assist with case management, client communication, documentation, scheduling, and other tasks necessary to keep cases moving efficiently. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn, grow professionally, and build a long-term career with the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Legal Assistant and Attorney with assigned Worker’s Compensation cases
  • Support case files and workflows to help meet firm standards and deadlines
  • Prepare, organize, scan, upload, and maintain accurate case documentation
  • Enter and maintain case information and updates using the Filevine case-management system
  • Assist with client communication and respond to routine client needs in a professional and compassionate manner
  • Communicate case needs, updates, and follow-up items with the Senior Legal Assistant and Attorney
  • Assist with scheduling appointments, deadlines, meetings, and other case-related activities
  • Help monitor outstanding tasks and follow up on items as directed by the Senior Legal Assistant or Attorney.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards in all interactions
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support to the legal team as needed
  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Legal Assistant, attorney, and other staff to ensure cases are handled efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Legal Assistant, legal administrative assistant, or in a comparable administrative client-facing role preferred
  • Legal office experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and follow through on assignments
  • Comfortable learning and using legal operations and case management software
  • Professional, dependable, and able to work effectively as part of a team
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • Must be open to learning new systems, adapting to changes, and growing professionally within the firm

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Fixed hourly rate: $20.00
  • Full-Time (non-exempt)
  • Medical, Dental & Life Insurance
  • 401(k) Plan with 15% employer contributions to 401(k) plan per pay period after eligibility requirements are met (no employee deferral required)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) (6.2 hours accrued per pay period)
