PAPPAS HAYDEN WESTBERG & JACKSON PC is seeking a qualified Legal Assistant to join their team in Overland Park, KS. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Summary Description: Responsibilities include working independently as well as part of a team to produce court pleadings for a variety of clients. Duties include a wide array of clerical duties like data entry, copying, ordering checks, skip tracing, calling courts, communicating with clients, e-filing and mailing service packets. Strict attention to detail is required when coordinating and ordering documents from various clients using the method requested by that specific client.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Prepare legal documents and correspondence
  • Efile court documents with the courts
  • Mail service packets
  • Verify information such as proper jurisdiction and balances
  • Work with attorneys, supervisors, leads, and team members
  • Correspond with vendors, clients, courts, and attorneys
  • Communicate effectively via email, phone, and facetoface
  • Work in Collection Partner, MS Office, Adobe, Westlaw, Accurint and other miscellaneous systems and websites
  • Order and print checks required for legal filings and service
  • Maintain worklists assigned by team lead and supervisor
  • Assist mail team to process incoming mail
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment and follow all established safety/health policies and regulations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management
  • Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED or 1 year experience in a similar clerical position
  • Organization and strict attention to detail
  • Quality typing, data entry and computer skills
  • Superior time management skills
  • Critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to follow client specific and task specific procedures
  • The ability to multitask and properly prioritize tasks
  • The ability to complete job assignments quickly and efficiently in a fastpaced environment
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • The ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team
