Position Summary:

The Packager is responsible for material handling, set up, operation and sanitation of packaging line equipment in addition to performing quality checks and product inspection and testing.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

  • Work on a packaging line that bottle manufactured products, then cottons, caps, labels, seals, and bands the bottles.
  • Review bottles for accuracy and box bottles.
  • Verify proper counts, labels, and lot numbers for packaged products.
  • Verify labels are properly positioned with no wrinkles.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance department to verify all proper procedures that have been followed.
  • Request materials for the packaging area as needed.
  • Complete batch and other paperwork as needed.
  • Create shipping labels as needed.
  • Perform all duties according to written Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP’s).
  • Keep a clean and neat work area.
  • Remove trash and sweep or clean as needed.
  • Follow cleaning SOPs.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education / Certifications:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

Required Knowledge:

  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Experience Required:

  • None

Skills / Abilities:

  • Able to follow standard operation procedures (GMP’s, SOP’s and Batch Records).
  • Able to follow directions and communicate information (written and verbal).
  • Able to use basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide); operate a calculator.
  • Able to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
  • Works and partners with others in a positive team environment.
  • Physical Activities and Requirements of this Position 
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Finger Dexterity:  

  • Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms above/below shoulder. 

Talking:  

  • Be able to communicate effectively and accurately with your team and supervisor to ensure manufacturing safety and SOPs are being followed.  

Average Hearing:  

  • Can hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information. 

Repetitive Motions:  

  • Movements frequently and regularly require using the wrists, hands, elbows, and/or fingers. 

Average Visual Abilities:  

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. 

Physical Strength:  

  • The employee is required to regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, and stand, walk for long periods. 
  • Must be able to lift and/or move 50 pounds repetitively and handle up to 100-pound drums occasionally. 
  • Will be required to climb ladders and use balance. 
  • Will be required to work on elevated platforms up to 20ft. 
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with seasonal temperature fluctuations. 

Working Conditions:  

  • Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, and exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity. 
  • Regularly exposed to wet and varying temperature conditions between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit, moderate noise level, and moving machinery parts. 
  • Regularly exposed to powder particulates. 
  • Required to wear PPE such as dust mask/respirator, lab coat, safety glasses and gloves etc.
