Position: Operations Supervisor Location: Atlanta, Georgia Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Global Forwarding Operations experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of supervisory experience leading a team
  • Strong knowledge of ocean import/export operations, shipping documentation, customs procedures, and carrier coordination.
  • Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proficiency in Mandarin is a plus
  • Being able to work independently and part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily ocean import/export operations and ensure shipments are handled accurately and on time.
  • Assign workloads, set priorities, and monitor the operations team’s daily performance.
  • Review shipment documentation, including MBL/HBL, commercial invoices, packing lists, delivery orders, and billing documents.
  • Coordinate with customers, overseas offices, carriers, truckers, customs brokers, warehouses, and other vendors.
  • Monitor shipments from booking through final delivery and proactively address delays, exceptions, damages, and customer complaints.
  • Review operational costs, vendor invoices, billing accuracy, and shipment profitability/GP.
  • Train and coach operations staff, provide daily guidance, and identify areas for performance improvement.
  • Ensure proper communication and teamwork between Operations, Sales, Customer Service, and Accounting.
  • Monitor service quality and ensure customers receive timely and accurate shipment updates.
  • Support rate negotiations and maintain strong working relationships with carriers and vendors.
  • Identify operational problems and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Escalate significant service, compliance, financial, or customer issues to management in a timely manner.
  • Provide operational reports and KPIs to management as required.
  • Provide hands-on operational support during high-volume periods or when team members need assistance.
