Job description

Job Title: Learning Center Supervisor

Location: Decatur Central High School

Hourly Rate: $17.50/hr

Schedule: 7.5 hours/day, 180 Days


Position Overview

The Learning Center Supervisor plays a vital role in supporting academic success at Decatur Central High School. Each Small Learning Community (SLC) at Decatur Central has its own dedicated Learning Center, designed as a quiet and structured space where students can study, complete homework, or receive tutoring support.


Supervisors will oversee approximately 28–30 students per session and are responsible for maintaining an environment conducive to academic progress. This includes taking attendance, monitoring student engagement, and supporting individual and small-group learning needs. Supervisors will collaborate closely with SLC staff who provide guidance and partnership in supporting students.


Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor daily operations of the SLC Learning Center
  • Take accurate attendance and maintain daily records
  • Provide a positive, structured, and academically focused environment
  • Encourage responsible behavior and support time-on-task learning
  • Communicate regularly with SLC teachers and staff regarding student needs
  • Promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and academic excellence
  • Support students in completing assignments, studying, or accessing tutoring services
  • Ensure adherence to all school and district policies and procedures

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary coursework preferred
  • Experience working with high school students in an educational or supervisory capacity is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain a positive and productive atmosphere for student learning
  • Dependable, professional, and committed to student success

Support and Collaboration

Each SLC will provide ongoing support to their Learning Center Supervisor to ensure consistency, clarity, and effectiveness in carrying out this important role.
