Lead Preschool Teacher Job Description (3 Position Available)

Position Title: Preschool Teacher
Organization: Little Scholars Academy
Location: Little Scholars Academy
Schedule: Full Time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Position Summary

Little Scholars Academy is seeking a nurturing, dependable, and professional Preschool Teacher who is passionate about early childhood education and committed to creating a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The ideal candidate values teamwork, positive classroom interactions, family engagement, and maintaining compliance with California Title 5 and Title 22 regulations.

Little Scholars Academy is a NAEYC accredited early childhood education program committed to high quality care, education, and continuous quality improvement. Our classrooms utilize the CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) framework to support strong teacher-child interactions, emotional support, classroom organization, and instructional learning practices.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and classroom activities
  • Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
  • Maintain daily classroom schedules and routines
  • Complete DRDP observations, assessments, and documentation
  • Maintain accurate attendance and classroom records
  • Upload daily classroom photos and updates through Learning Genie
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and engaging classroom environment
  • Follow active supervision, health, and safety procedures at all times
  • Maintain positive and professional communication with families and administration
  • Participate in meetings, professional development trainings, and school events
  • Support NAEYC accreditation standards and classroom quality expectations
  • Utilize positive classroom management strategies and developmentally appropriate practices
  • Assist with transitions, meals, outdoor activities, and rest periods

Qualifications

  • Associate Teacher Permit or higher preferred
  • Must meet California Title 22 requirements
  • Title 5 qualified preferred
  • Early Childhood Education or Child Development units required
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification preferred
  • Current Mandated Reporter Training Certification
  • Live Scan fingerprint clearance
  • Current TB clearance
  • Proof of immunizations required by Community Care Licensing
  • Experience working in an early childhood education setting preferred
  • Knowledge of CLASS classroom practices preferred
  • Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation standards preferred
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administration, and families

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to sit, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day
  • Ability to supervise children indoors and outdoors
