POSITION: Indian Education Cultural Resource Specialist Paraprofessional

SUMMARY:ย Onamia Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and highly energetic individual for the position of Indian Education Cultural Resource Specialist Paraprofessional. Theย Indianย Educationย Culturalย Resourceย Specialistย Paraprofessional supportsย theย Directorย ofย Americanย Indianย Educationย in providing culturally responsive educational experiences grounded in Ojibwe language, Anishinaabe culture, history, and seasonal lifeways. The position assists with the planning, coordination, preparation, transportation, inventory, maintenance, and implementation of seasonal cultural programming while providing direct support to Anishinaabe (American Indian) students, staff, and community partners.

Theย Indianย Educationย Culturalย Resourceย Specialist Paraprofessionalย isย aย highlyย specializedย positionย requiringย expertiseย that is not readily available in the general labor market. Unlike a traditional paraprofessional, this position demands demonstrated knowledge of Anishinaabe cultural lifeways, seasonal harvesting practices, traditional arts, outdoor education, community protocols, youth mentorship, equipment management, and culturally responsive instructional support. Many of these competencies are developed through years of community participation, intergenerational teaching, and lived cultural experienceย rather than through conventional postsecondary education.
