Job Summary

The Senior Manager for LD Training in Innovation and Operations is responsible for building and leading the technical training programs that develop the skills, knowledge, and performance of our production workforce. This role oversees all aspects of manufacturing training, ranging from new hire orientation, onboarding, and job certification to upskilling and cross-training.

The Manager works closely with production leaders, engineers, and subject matter experts to translate operational needs into a structured, effective training program. This role also leads a team of trainers and plays a key role in sustaining a culture of continuous improvement, learning, and excellence on the shop floor.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Serves teams that include supervisors and individual contributors.
  • Develop and maintain job-specific training programs for production team members ranging from technicians to Supervisors, including onboarding, skills development, and quality compliance-based instruction.
  • Manage and ensure implementation of technical training content in multiple formats (hands-on, digital, classroom) to meet the diverse learning needs of employees.
  • Partner with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure training supports safety, efficiency, and process standardization.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Learning and development specialists, technical trainers, and Instructional designers.
  • Provide clear direction, performance feedback, and professional development for direct reports.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in training delivery across shifts, work areas, and facilities.
  • Oversee use of the Learning Management System (LMS), including course assignment, training record accuracy, and compliance tracking.
  • Manage technical training documentation, job aids, and other resources that support shop-floor learning.
  • Create and execute new internal and external technical talent programs such as internships, externships, and apprenticeship programs
  • Create and manage standard On-The-Job training programs.
  • Serve as the representative for the company on local and regional boards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Industrial Technology, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field. (Masterโ€™s preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in learning and development, technical training, with 5 years of management & leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training facilitation.
  • Experience working in a production or operations environment, preferably in aerospace, automotive, or other regulated industries.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong communication, project management, and team leadership skills.
  • Knowledgeable in digital learning media (infographic, training videos, etc.)
  • Must have experience with Learning Management Systems and Instructional Design software
