Position Summary

The Senior Talent Development Specialist serves as the learning and development consultant, partnering with leaders to identify capability gaps and develop learning solutions that support business goals and improve performance. Working closely with the Talent Development Manager, this role translates organizational needs into learning strategies, development pathways, performance support tools, and learning experiences that drive measurable outcomes.

This role is responsible for consultation, analysis, and solution design while partnering with Talent Development Specialists responsible for the development, implementation, administration, and coordination of learning initiatives.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities

Learning Consulting & Solution Design

  • Serves as learning consultant for assigned business areas, building strong partnerships with leaders to understand strategic priorities and workforce capability needs.
  • Conducts discovery sessions, focus groups, learning and performance needs analyses with stakeholders, business leaders, and subject matter experts to identify performance challenges and development opportunities.
  • Evaluates whether learning, process improvement, leadership support, communication, or other interventions are the most appropriate solution to business needs.
  • Leads design of comprehensive learning and performance solution strategies, including learning journeys, curricula, performance support tools, coaching approaches, and reinforcement plans, partnering with Talent Development Specialists in creation and implementation.
  • Determines success measures that ensure learning solutions align with organizational priorities and desired business outcomes, and leads the evaluation of learning programs, including ROI analysis to inform ongoing strategy.
  • Provides consultation to facilitators and program owners.
  • Facilitates or oversees the facilitation of high-priority educational or training experiences.
  • Serves as a mentor and resource to Talent Development Specialists and Coordinators, collaborating on instructional design, delivery methods, and best practices.
  • Stays ahead of industry trends to recommend innovative approaches to learning and performance improvement.

Performance & Talent Management

  • Supports the integration of performance management programs integrated into business operations, reinforcing a culture of accountability and growth.
  • Partners with leadership to align career development initiatives with business needs and employee engagement goals.
  • Supports leadership to shape implementation of talent review, succession planning, and workforce development strategies, as needed.

  • Consults and advises leaders on learning and development priorities

Required Education, Experience, Licenses & Technical Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, education, psychology or a related field preferred. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in human resources in a talent development, learning and development or organizational effectiveness capacity, or as a teacher, trainer, facilitator or instructional designer is required.
  • Proven success in designing and implementing enterprise-level learning strategies required.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate learning experiences is required.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and strategic thinking skills required.
  • Experience in instructional design, LMS management, and learning analytics preferred.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in this job description.
