Job description

The Opportunity: 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Specialist to support the design, development, and delivery of highquality learning solutions that strengthen Walbridge’s business strategy, culture, and talent pipeline. This role blends content creation, program support, facilitation, and LMS administration while partnering closely with subject matter experts and business leaders to translate knowledge into practical, engaging learning experiences.

Location

This position is full-time, onsite in Detroit, Michigan; your parking will be paid for.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Content Development: Design, update, and maintain learning content, training materials, presentations, and job aids aligned with business needs
  • Program Customization: Curate and tailor programs for earlycareer, leadership, and highpotential development in partnership with strategic learning partners
  • Curriculum Design: Develop learning paths and curriculum for rolespecific career development and technical training
  • Content Enhancement: Improve and redesign existing training materials to increase clarity, engagement, and effectiveness
  • Program Implementation: Support the creation, rollout, and refresh of enterprise learning programs including mentorship, intern programming, leadership development, and continuing education
  • Training Facilitation: Assist with facilitation of live, virtual, and inperson training sessions and program kickoffs
  • Program Coordination: Manage logistics, communications, scheduling, timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure successful program execution
  • LMS Administration: Support course setup, testing, assignments, reporting, troubleshooting, and ensure data accuracy within the LMS
  • Reporting & Insights: Provide learning reports, analytics, and onboarding training schedule updates to leaders and HR partners
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration: Partner with HR, operations, and business leaders to align learning initiatives with organizational priorities
  • Learning Innovation: Stay current on learning best practices, tools, and technologies to enhance program effectiveness and learner engagement
  • Continuous Improvement: Support ongoing enhancement of learning programs, processes, and the overall learner experience

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years of professional experience in Learning & Development, training, or related fields
  • Strong content development and facilitation skills with an understanding of adult learning principles
  • Ability to partner effectively with SMEs and stakeholders across the organization
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Organized, disciplined, and proactive in managing timelines, meeting notes, action items, and next steps
  • Professional discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Selfstarter with strong initiative and a desire to build, improve, and innovate

 Ideally, you’ll also have

  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) administration
  • Practice supporting enterprisewide learning programs
  • Familiarity with blended learning approaches: inperson, virtual, & eLearning
  • Comfort facilitating training sessions and program kickoffs
  • A passion for continuous improvement and learner engagement
