AIG Trade Credit develops insurance solutions that address the exposures of companies globally, and embody AIG's tradition of innovation, underwriting excellence and bringing to market groundbreaking insurance solutions to corporates.


The Trade Credit Senior Underwriter, East Coast will be based in our New York City/Boston/Wilton office with the ability to support and increase the Trade Credit business in the East Coast, work strategies for the region, travel when business requires and underwrite business efficiently.


Your contribution at AIG

As a Senior Underwriter, you are respected for your deep technical expertise and/or ability to oversee programs and processes. You balance the needs of multiple stakeholders, making sound decisions using data, analysis, experience, and judgment, along with a risk mindset. Ultimately, you take ownership for key outcomes.


How you will create an impact

  • Developing strong relationships with brokers and clients to grow the Underwriter's portfolio of trade credit business.
  • Underwriting large/complex and middle market, new and renewal insurance submissions and negotiating policy terms and conditions.
  • Analyzing domestic and international corporate credits, evaluating financial information, and recommending or approving appropriate credit limits and terms.
  • Professionally maintaining and properly servicing an existing portfolio of trade credit insurance business.
  • Marketing, selling and presenting to brokers and insureds to increase submission flow.
  • Engaging in various underwriting and marketing projects to improve overall company results.
  • Training, mentoring, providing technical direction to fellow Underwriters to contribute to group revenue targets and meeting internal operations/audit directives for the division.
  • Meeting operating and audit guidelines and goals of senior management.
  • Participating in and completing special projects as required by the profit center.
  • Regular collaboration with AIG distribution colleagues in identifying and closing trade credit opportunities.
  • Some travel required.

What you will need to succeed

  • Qualified candidates should have a background in credit or financial analysis and strong commercial development skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business or finance preferred
  • Good understanding of Trade Credit, wordings, processes and documentation
  • High level commercial / sales expertise and broker relationship management, willing to provide sales support and business trips
  • Proven portfolio analysis skills with broad knowledge of trade sectors and deep
  • experience in financial and balance sheet analysis.
  • Willingness to make decisions, ability to work in a team, quick perception and good self-organization. Ability to work in a matrix organization
  • Proficiency in software packages Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), CapIQ, Salesforce, internal credit insurance platforms
  • Personal initiative, commitment, accountability, resilience, flexibility
  • Second language proficiency valued

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $81,000-$109,000. For positions based in New Jersey, the base salary range is $86,000-$106,000. For positions based in Boston, MA, the base salary range is $88,000-$105,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.If your compensation expectations are above the posted range, we still encourage you to apply-your unique background matters to us.
