Job Title: Lean Process Analyst – Component Repair Operations

Location: San Antonio, Texas

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder required (ITAR/customer compliance)

5+ years of experience in a Lean, process improvement, or operations excellence role within an aerospace MRO or component repair shop.

Role Overview

The Lean Process Analyst will be responsible for stabilizing, standardizing, and improving core material flow processes—specifically kitting, shipping, and warehousing—within an aerospace engine component repair operation. This role will work directly on the floor with technicians, mechanics, material handlers, pickers, and supervisors to understand current-state operations, identify gaps in existing SOPs, and document clear, practical standard work.

This is a hands-on role designed for a Lean practitioner who thrives in operational environments, understands aerospace MRO realities, and can translate Lean principles into executable, frontline-ready processes that improve safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost.

Key Responsibilities

Current-State Assessment & Gemba Engagement

  • Spend significant time on the shop floor conducting gemba walks across kitting, warehousing, and shipping areas.
  • Engage directly with frontline personnel (technicians, mechanics, materials teams, pickers, and material handlers) to understand actual work practices versus documented procedures.
  • Map end-to-end material flows, including part receipt, storage, kitting, staging, issuance, returns, and outbound shipping.

SOP Review & Gap Analysis

  • Review existing SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation related to material handling and logistics.
  • Identify gaps between documented procedures and real-world execution.
  • Assess processes against Lean principles and aerospace operational requirements (safety, quality, traceability, compliance).

Standard Work Development

  • Develop and document standard work for kitting, shipping, and warehousing operations focused on:
  • Safety (ergonomics, handling, compliance)
  • Quality (right part, right condition, right documentation)
  • Delivery (cycle time, on-time kit readiness)
  • Productivity (motion reduction, flow, labor efficiency)
  • Cost (scrap, rework, expediting, excess handling)
  • Create clear, practical SOPs, visual work instructions, checklists, and job aids that can be used by frontline teams.
  • Ensure standard work is realistic, auditable, and sustainable within a high-mix aerospace repair environment.

Lean Improvement & Implementation

  • Identify waste (motion, waiting, rework, excess inventory) within material flow processes.
  • Recommend and support implementation of Lean improvements such as point-of-use kitting, visual controls, layout improvements, and pull-based replenishment.
  • Facilitate kaizen events or rapid improvement workshops as needed.
  • Partner with operations, supply chain, quality, and EHS teams to ensure aligned execution.

Sustainment & Change Adoption

  • Support training and rollout of new or updated standard work.
  • Work with supervisors and leads to ensure adherence and sustainment.
  • Establish basic process metrics where appropriate to monitor stability and performance.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in a Lean, process improvement, or operations excellence role within an aerospace MRO or component repair shop.
  • Strong understanding of kitting, warehousing, shipping, and material handling in an aerospace environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work directly with frontline employees and supervisors in operational settings.
  • Proven experience creating SOPs and standard work for shop-floor execution.
  • Solid Lean fundamentals (standard work, waste identification, flow, visual management).
  • U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting engine or engine component repair operations.
  • Formal Lean or Continuous Improvement training (Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt).
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems supporting materials and logistics.
