Fort Worth, TX

We are a leading, family-owned metals service center and heavy fabrication supplier in the Southwest U.S. with over 50 years of industry leadership. We are currently undergoing an enterprise-wide operational transformation—investing in advanced data systems, modernized logistics, and continuous improvement across our facilities.
We are seeking a Process Engineer to play a high-impact role at the center of this transformation. You will design and optimize production and logistics workflows, establish process controls, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for an engineer who is equally comfortable on the shop floor as they are analyzing data, and who understands that sustainable progress requires both disciplined design and strong relationships with front-line teams.
Responsibilities
  • Workflow Optimization: Analyze current-state processes and develop future-state workflows to improve throughput, safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Process Control & Standards: Design and implement process controls, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, visual management, and training materials.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead Lean/5S/Kaizen initiatives, root-cause analyses, time studies, capacity models, and corrective actions to reduce variation and waste.
  • Floor-Level Troubleshooting: Partner directly with Maintenance and Production leadership to identify and solve operational bottlenecks and equipment issues.
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with operational technology teams to validate process data, support system requirements, and convert shop-floor observations into actionable insights.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track and report key operational metrics (OEE, yield, scrap/rework, cycle time) to plant leadership.
  • Quality & Safety: Work alongside Quality teams to ensure compliance with relevant industry codes, customer specifications, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Experience: Hands-on experience in process design, optimization, and control within a manufacturing environment. Experience in metals, steel, or heavy fabrication is a plus.
  • Technical Skills: Strong analytical ability using Excel/Google Sheets; familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent communication, troubleshooting, and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to influence across teams and train shop-floor personnel.
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
  • Exposure to Lean/Six Sigma principles, value-stream mapping, and PFMEA/Control Plan development.
  • Experience with equipment integration, trials, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with steel service center processes (cutting, forming, welding, material handling).
