A Leak Testing job involves inspecting components, systems, or products for leaks using various testing methods such as pressure decay, bubble testing, or helium mass spectrometry. Leak testing ensures the integrity, safety, and quality of products in industries like automotive, aerospace, manufacturing, and healthcare. Professionals in this role set up testing equipment, analyze results, and document findings to meet industry standards.

What does a leak testing do?

As a Leak Testing professional, your day-to-day tasks will involve setting up and operating specialized test equipment, inspecting components or systems for leaks, and documenting results in accordance with industry standards and client specifications. You may work independently or as part of a quality assurance or maintenance team, often collaborating closely with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot and resolve any issues identified during tests. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for maintaining equipment, adhering to strict safety protocols, and occasionally training colleagues on best practices. The role is generally hands-on and requires a combination of technical skills and clear communication to ensure product quality and compliance.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for leak testing?

LACO Technologies is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our multidisciplinary engineering team and help drive the next phase of growth, innovation, and operational excellence. This role is responsible for developing engineers, improving engineering workflows, and ensuring the successful execution of complex customer-driven projects. The ideal candidate is both a strong technical leader and a proven people manager who can mentor engineers at all stages of their careers while building a high-performing engineering organization.

About LACO

LACO Technologies designs and manufactures highly engineered vacuum and leak testing systems for some of the world's most demanding industries. As an Engineering Manager, you'll lead the development of custom equipment used by customers such as SpaceX, NASA, Boeing, Apple, and other global technology leaders. Our engineers solve complex multidisciplinary challenges in a high-paced environment involving mechanical design, controls, automation, software integration, and advanced system architecture.

This role offers the opportunity to make a visible impact, develop engineering talent, and help shape the future direction of both our products and engineering organization.

What You'll Do

    • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Sales, Service, and Executive Leadership.
    • Participate in customer design reviews, technical discussions, and project planning activities to ensure successful project execution.
    • Support long-term engineering strategy, organizational growth, and technology road maps.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related fields.
  • 15+ years of engineering experience in industrial equipment, automation, capital equipment, vacuum systems, leak testing systems, or related industries.
  • 5+ years of engineering leadership experience managing engineers across multiple experience levels.
  • Proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Strong project leadership skills with experience moving products from concept through production.
  • Demonstrated success of coaching, mentoring, and developing technical talent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with vacuum systems, leak testing systems, or highly engineered custom equipment.
  • Strong equipment engineering design background.
  • Experience integrating mechanical, electrical, controls, and software disciplines.
  • Master's degree in engineering, Engineering Management, or Business Administration.
  • Experience supporting Aerospace, Automotive, Medical/Pharmaceutical, and other advanced manufacturing industries.
