Job Overview

As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will serve as a senior systems engineering professional responsible for leading engineering efforts throughout the entire system lifecycle. You will develop engineering strategies, evaluate system architectures, guide technical teams, and collaborate with customers, program leadership, and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

This position offers the opportunity to influence technical direction, support strategic initiatives, and lead the development of systems that directly support critical government missions.

What You'll Do

  • Lead systems engineering activities throughout the system lifecycle, including concept development, requirements analysis, design, integration, testing, implementation, and sustainment
  • Develop and evaluate system architectures, technical approaches, and engineering solutions
  • Analyze operational, functional, and technical requirements to ensure mission and program objectives are achieved
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee system integration, verification, validation, and testing activities
  • Conduct engineering studies, trade-off analyses, technical assessments, and feasibility evaluations
  • Develop and maintain systems engineering artifacts, including requirements documentation, interface definitions, technical baselines, specifications, engineering plans, and reports
  • Evaluate system performance and identify opportunities for improvement, modernization, and optimization
  • Lead technical reviews and engineering assessments throughout project execution
  • Ensure systems engineering activities comply with applicable standards, requirements, policies, and best practices
  • Coordinate engineering efforts across multiple technical disciplines and stakeholder organizations
  • Support risk management, configuration management, and change management activities
  • Develop technical recommendations, reports, briefings, and presentations for management and customer representatives
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to engineering teams and junior personnel

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physical Science, or a related technical discipline
  • Ten (10) years of experience in systems engineering, systems analysis, systems integration, systems development, or a related technical field
  • Advanced knowledge of systems engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of systems development and lifecycle management processes
  • Knowledge of system architecture, requirements engineering, integration, testing, verification, and validation methodologies
  • Ability to develop and evaluate complex technical solutions and engineering strategies
  • Ability to conduct technical assessments, trade studies, and engineering analyses
  • Strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and coordinate across stakeholder organizations
  • Ability to prepare and review technical documentation, engineering artifacts, and executive-level briefings
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and support large-scale technical efforts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance if required
