As a Project Accountant at BSC Group, Inc. you will be responsible for overseeing the financial aspects of a project, such as budgeting, invoicing, reporting, and auditing. You will work closely with project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget. A project accountant also monitors and analyzes the project's performance and profitability and provides recommendations for improvement. Additionally, they handle the billing process for the project, including preparing and sending invoices, collecting payments, and following up on overdue accounts.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cash flows.
  • Track and report on project expenditures, revenues, and variances.
  • Manage the project billing process including preparing and sending invoices, collecting payments, and following up on overdue accounts.
  • Process and verify project invoices and payments.
  • Ensure compliance with project contracts, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist with project set-up, changes, close-outs and final settlement.
  • Coordinate with project managers, clients, subconsultants and vendors on financial matters.
  • Perform project audits and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and present project financial reports and statements.
  • Identify and resolve project accounting and billing issues and discrepancies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Experience in project accounting or similar role a plus
  • Proficient in accounting software; Deltek Vantagepoint experience is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Strong Excel, Word and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Public billing experience (MassDOT, MBTA) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with month end close and Adjusting journal entries a plus
