About this Role

Quanta Power Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Project Accountant to support large-scale EPC and infrastructure projects across the power generation sector. This role provides advanced financial oversight, project accounting leadership, and strategic support for complex, multi-million-dollar construction and engineering programs. 

The Senior Project Accountant will serve as a key financial partner to Project Management, Project Controls, and executive leadership, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong cost control, and compliance across all active EPC projects.

What You'll Do

Project Financial Leadership 

  • Lead project accounting activities across multiple complex EPC projects from initiation through closeout 

  • Oversee project financial performance, including costs, revenue recognition, billing, and commitments 

  • Ensure accuracy of monthly close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting 

  • Provide financial guidance to project teams on contract structure and accounting implications 

Advanced Cost & Billing Oversight 

  • Review and approve complex client billing applications and project invoices 

  • Manage progress billing, retainage, change orders, and contract-specific financial requirements 

  • Partner with Project Controls to validate cost reporting, forecasting, and earned value data 

  • Resolve high-level billing disputes and subcontractor financial discrepancies 

Financial Analysis & Reporting 

  • Perform advanced variance analysis, forecasting, and project performance reporting 

  • Identify financial risks, margin impacts, and cost overruns across active projects 

  • Prepare executive-level financial summaries and project performance dashboards 

  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of data within ERP and accounting systems 

Compliance & Controls 

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and contractual obligations 

  • Support internal and external audits, including documentation preparation and issue resolution 

  • Maintain strong financial controls and enforce proper cost coding and allocation structures 

  • Identify and implement process improvements within project accounting workflows 

Cross-Functional Leadership 

  • Serve as a senior liaison between accounting, operations, project management, and procurement teams 

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to Project Accountant I-III staff 

  • Support training efforts and development of junior accounting personnel 

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across project accounting and finance functions 

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field 
  • 7-12+ years of experience in project accounting, preferably in EPC, construction, or industrial environments 
  • Strong understanding of percentage-of-completion accounting and revenue recognition principles 
  • Experience with project cost controls, WIP reporting, and financial forecasting 
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, or similar) 
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial modeling capabilities 
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and operational teams 
  • Ability to manage multiple high-value projects in a fast-paced environment
