Job Summary:
Zeta is a next-generation banking technology company providing cloud-native banking platforms. The Lead Database Administrator will oversee the design, administration, and optimization of enterprise database systems while leading a team of database administrators to ensure high-quality support for PostgreSQL and MySQL clusters.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Accountable to manage Zetaโ€™s ever growing cloud based PostgreSQL and MySQL database clusters across the world.
โ€ข Lead a dedicated team of database administrators to provide high quality DBA support for Postgres and MySQL clusters across the world.
โ€ข Work closely with the Engineering Director and supervise the DBA team, delegate tasks, mentor, and encourage best practices.
โ€ข Work closely with various application development teams to ensure database changes adhere to best practices and are properly prioritized and scheduled.
โ€ข Should be hands-on supporting large-scale database running on AWS
โ€ข Proactively identify areas of optimization and troubleshoot database performance issues
โ€ข Improve service availability and scalability through tuning, automation, tools, and process
โ€ข In addition to Relational Databases, be involved in everything related to NoSQL and New SQL databases like couchDB, Yugabyte and their deployments, design, maintenance, migrations, administration, configuration, etc.
โ€ข Perform various audits of existing databases, figure out possible improvements and ways to implement them efficiently.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Experience in Database Administration โ€“ configuration, backup/restore, replication, etc. Experience with databases of large sizes which are in the order of 10s of TBs is a plus
โ€ข Experience in mentoring a team of database administrators.
โ€ข Experience in performance optimization techniques
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Computer science or equivalent
โ€ข Excellent Troubleshooting and Communication skills
โ€ข Mandatory : Exceptional knowledge of PostgreSQL (experience with MySQL is a plus).
โ€ข Ability to solve problems, make sound decisions and use good judgement
โ€ข Experience in any one of the scripting languages (bash, python)
โ€ข Experience in automating DBA activities using Terraform technologies
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s/Masterโ€™s degree in engineering (computer science, information systems)
โ€ข 8 to 12 years hands-on experience on various relational databases with PostgreSQL as primary skillset.
