Overview

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) has an exciting opportunity for a Business Systems Lead Database Administrator (DBA), supporting TOS II, at Arnold Air Force Base in Arnold, TN. The Business Systems Lead Database Administrator (DBA) will be working as a member of an integrated team responsible supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts.

Open to only internal candidates. The selected candidate for this requisition may be required to occasionally (e.g., application upgrades) work outside normal business hours.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be the team lead for the Database Administrator (DBA) team. As the DBA Team Lead the selected candidate will provide guidance and direction to the DBA's on the team. They will be the go-to person in supporting management initiatives and goals. Additionally, the successful candidate will also manage and support a broad portfolio of Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server databases, with responsibilities including backup and recovery strategies, quarterly patching, performance tuning, migrations, hardware/software upgrades, and documentation. This role requires strong communication, adaptability, and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues across Windows and Linux environments.

Job Duties:

  • Provide technical support to the Section supervisor on DBA activities
  • Lead and support DBA staff for supporting the various Business System applications using Oracle and Microsoft Databases.
  • Manage and coordinate various assignments to DBA's on the team.
  • Provide support in a highavailability environment, resolving critical production issues across Oracle and SQL Server platforms.
  • Administer MS SQL Server databases (2014-2019+), including backup/recovery, patching, upgrades, performance tuning, and maintenance.
  • Support Oracle 19c databases, including RMAN backup strategies, performance tuning, stored procedures, triggers, indexing, and optimization of table statistics.
  • Lead and assist with database migrations, including SQL Server and Oracle version upgrades.
  • Identify opportunities to automate routine DBA tasks and improve operational efficiency using tools such as PowerShell, SQLPlus, Toad, and SSMS.
  • Responsible for documenting database configurations, policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure compliance and maintainability from the DBA team.
  • Provide support for Oracle on Linux (RHEL 8) and Windows Server environments, and SQL Server on Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.
  • Coordinate upgrade planning and execution with crossfunctional teams.
  • Collaborate with Business Systems teams to support applications running on Oracle and SQL Server databases.
  • Lead and direct the application of DISA STIGs on a continuous basis and maintain cybersecurity compliance across all supported systems.
  • Lead, direct and troubleshoot issues related to performance, blocking, deadlocks, replication, connectivity, log shipping, and security.
  • Participate in the design, development, sustainment, and deployment of database systems.
  • Provide Tier 2 support for Business Systems through the ticketing system, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Support common work processes and procedures across the TOS II contract.
  • Work directly with AEDC customers and contractors to ensure reliable system performance and support.
  • Maintain continuous improvement through periodic evaluation of processes and system performance.
  • Wear PPE as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Engineering, Science, Information Systems
  • Grade 07: Minimum of 2 years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Grade 08: Minimum of 5 years of progressive and relevant experience
  • Any equivalent combination of education and progressive and relevant experience can be substituted.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of a secret security clearance and the AEDC local area network.
  • Obtain and maintain Security+ certification
  • Current US Citizenship required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the following:
    • Oracle: RMAN, Toad for Oracle, Oracle 19, ODBC
    • Microsoft: MS SQL Server 2019 or higher, SQL Server Management Studio
    • Operating Systems: Windows 10/11, Windows 2019 Server OS or higher, RHEL 8 OS or higher
    • Office products: Visio, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in IT department practices and procedures
  • Skilled in oral and written communication
  • Skilled at building and maintaining personnel and customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
  • Active DoD secret security clearance or able to obtain an Active DoD secret security clearance.
