Senior Civil Designer

At LDC, Inc., you will lead civil design production for land development projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and high-quality deliverables. You will play a critical role in supporting project teams while upholding our commitment to Service Above the Standard.
For over 23 years, LDC has delivered high-quality civil engineering solutions across the Pacific Northwest. As we continue to grow, we are seeking experienced designers who take ownership of their work, mentor others, and contribute to improving processes and standards across the organization.
Position Overview
You will be responsible for leading design production efforts across multiple projects, overseeing CAD standards, managing production workflows, and ensuring high-quality plan deliverables.
You work closely with project managers and engineers while providing guidance, mentorship, and technical direction to CAD staff. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Reports to:
President or Senior Vice President, with direct supervision from Principal Engineers
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership and Oversight
  • Lead production of civil engineering plan sets for site development projects
  • Coordinate with project managers to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Manage project file structure and maintain organized project directories
  • Oversee production schedules and ensure timely delivery of plans
  • Implement and improve processes to increase efficiency and consistency

Quality Control and Standards
  • Maintain and enforce CAD standards across projects
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews of plans and graphics
  • Ensure compliance with applicable municipal and state design standards
  • Review work for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project requirements

Team Leadership and Development
  • Mentor and train CAD technicians and junior designers
  • Provide guidance on design production, tools, and best practices
  • Support performance development through feedback and coaching
  • Assist in hiring efforts and onboarding of new team members

Technical Responsibilities
  • Perform civil design tasks including site layout, grading, utilities, and roadway profiles
  • Utilize Civil 3D and related tools to develop accurate and efficient designs
  • Coordinate with engineers and consultants to support project delivery

Skills and Specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D and design production tools
  • Strong understanding of civil engineering design and plan production
  • Knowledge of local and state design standards and codes

Education, Experience, Qualifications
