Civil Design Engineer

You will play a key role in delivering high-quality designs that support our commitment to Service Above the Standard.
For over 23 years, LDC has delivered high-quality civil engineering solutions across the Pacific Northwest. As we continue to grow, we are looking for motivated engineers who take pride in their work, value collaboration, and want to build a strong foundation for their career.
Position Overview
You support the design and execution of residential, commercial, and public development projects. This role works closely with project managers and technical teams to produce accurate, high-quality plans and calculations.
You will contribute to multiple projects simultaneously, gaining exposure to all phases of project delivery, including design, permitting, and construction support. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, a solid technical foundation, and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Reports to: President or Senior Vice President, with direct supervision from Principal Engineers
Key Responsibilities
Design and Technical
  • Prepare grading, drainage, and utility designs for site development projects
  • Perform stormwater conveyance modeling, including quantity and water quality analysis
  • Design water and sewer systems and support roadway design efforts
  • Assist with land entitlement and site layout planning
  • Prepare construction plans, specifications, and engineer's estimates
  • Review project plans and documentation for accuracy and quality
  • Support permitting efforts and coordinate with local jurisdictions
  • Conduct occasional site visits to observe construction progress and compliance

Project Coordination and Support
  • Collaborate with project managers and technical staff across multiple projects
  • Assist with project scheduling and coordination of deliverables
  • Maintain awareness of project budgets by completing tasks efficiently and accurately
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
  • Participate in professional and technical development activities, including industry associations

Skills and Specifications
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, project managers, and technical staff
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Working knowledge of civil design standards, codes, and permitting processes
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality deliverables
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities

Education, Experience, Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • 3+ years of civil engineering design experience
  • Site development experience preferred
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required
