Our company's truly intermodal character, offering LCL & FCL Ocean and Air freight services, uniquely positions Shipco as a 'one stop' provider of worldwide transportation solutions. (Website: www.shipco.com) Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our LAX branch located in Long Beach, CA for an experienced LCL Export Operations Supervisor. The Operation Supervisor is responsible for providing effective coordination of the company's Export LCL loads. To service all internal and external customers by using excellent, in-depth knowledge of the company's Export LCL product. To communicate effectively with team members within ones own organization as well as with customers and approved vendors. The Supervisor will be the first escalation point and will lead the department in the absence of the Operations Manager. Key Responsibilities
  • First escalation point.
  • Monitor that the group alias emails are attended to correctly and in a timely fashion.
  • Assist and coach Team members in problem-solving.
  • Coordinate days off in the department, in agreement with the Operations Manager.
  • Ensuring that the team meets the needed cut-offs for the containers and linehauls.
  • Ensuring the team completes all required updates at the booking, file, and lot levels to keep the customers/agents informed.
  • Making operational decisions in the absence of the manager, these include loading/rolling decisions where financials, customer relations, cost/benefit, etc., all get taken into account.
  • Communicate with steamship lines, customers, and agents.
  • Confirm delivery of freight upon the customer's request.
  • Ensure that shipments processed comply with the laws and regulations governing the US Export Industry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
  • Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or one to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Assist Department. Manager/Branch Manager in staff recruiting.
  • Excellent organization, coaching, and delegation skills.
  • Lead and direct the work in the dept.
  • Implement procedures to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
  • Maintain relationships with carriers and customers.
  • Able to identify new/opportunity lanes on a weekly and long-term basis.
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of export operations and knowledge of customer service and/or documentation.
  • Strong data entry skills required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent organization skills, attention to detail, and an aptitude for a fast-paced, multi-tasking, customer service-minded environment.
  • Knowledge of geography is crucial.
  • Relies on pre-established guidelines.
  • Reports to the Export Manager/Operations Manager.
  • Knowledge of IMDG and 49 CFR.
