Job description

The Outpatient (OP) Substance Use Disorder (SUD) counselor will provide substance use services to individuals diagnosed with substance use disorder.ย  These services include but are not limited to psychoeducational groups, group counseling, individual counseling, service coordination, skills training, screenings, assessments, and treatment planning. The OP SUD program and staff will operate under trauma-informed and recovery-oriented models of care which align with CCBHC standards.ย  The OP SUD treatment counselor will be supervised by the Program Administrator and/or SUD Clinical Supervisor.ย  For LCDC Interns, they would be required to complete supervision with QCC as required by LCDC Intern guidelines and complete KSAs as required.ย 

  • Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) required
  • Consideration of a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) Intern if counselor is a Level II, III or IV intern with a minimum of 2000 hours towards internship.ย 
  • Associateโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university with substance abuse coursework required
  • Minimum of two yearsโ€™ experience working in community mental health with adults and youth with mental health and substance use disorders.ย 
  • Bilingual Spanish/English preferred.
  • Knowledge of the social services system and the ability to connect individuals with appropriate services.ย 
  • Knowledge of counseling techniques and processes โ€“ especially Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing.ย 
  • Ability to write clearly and professionally.ย 
  • Ability to think clearly and logically to deal with potentially dangerous and/or emotional situations.
  • Knowledge of compliance and fidelity with all state and federal statutes as well as all contract and/or licensing requirements for the Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs.
  • Ability to develop an appropriate treatment plan for individuals enrolled in the program in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives at Lifepath Systems.ย 
  • Ability to cross-train in all programs under the SUD department and obtain/maintain other qualifications as required.
  • Ability to be self-motivated, organized and detail oriented and be capable of completing documentation within regulatory guideline.
  • Ability to be flexible with program hours of operation and cover teammates if necessary.
