If you have experience working with kids as a tutor, coach, teacher, youth leader, or other role in which you demonstrated a passion for investing in students' future, we want to talk to you.  

While we work with students across the country, our immediate openings are:        

Location: 

  • Los Angeles Unified School District Schools and Los Angeles Public Libraries
  • Needed Areas:
    • Lewis Continuation HS (LAUSD) — M/W/Th 1:45–3:45 PM
    • Sutter Middle School (LAUSD) — M/W/Th 2:45–4:30 PM
    • San Fernando Library (LACL) — HDT: Tue/Wed 2:30–7:30 PM, Thu 2:00–5:30 PM
    • Stevenson Ranch Library (LACL) — HDT: Tue–Thu 2:30–7:30 PM

Hours: 

  • 9-12 hours per week, with the possibility of 12+ hours per week within 30 days by working additional virtual or in-person hours.        
  • In-person, substitute tutor

Pay:  

  • $22.00-$25.00, dependent on experience, department worked and other factors

 In this role, you will: 

  • Provide small group tutoring to students in reading, writing, and/or math
  • Create and adapt lesson plans to meet each student's needs, using provided content and materials
  • Track and document student progress each session
  • Maintain a positive, engaging learning environment
  • Content and materials are provided, no need to source your own
  • Subs have a flexible schedule and can pick up sessions based on their availability
  • Sub placements can turn into a permanent position depending on availability

This role is a great fit if you

  • Can complete the fingerprinting process within forty eight hours of an offer
  • In this role you will need to be able to meet DOJ/FBI fingerprint clearance requirements for this position
  • You can provide three professional references
  • You have a minimum of sixty units of college credits
  • You have at least one year of student-related experience
  • You are detail-oriented and highly dependable
  • You are an effective communicator 
  • You have reliable transportation
  • You can provide a negative tuberculosis test within 2 weeks of being hired
  • You love learning, teaching, and empowering others to soar
