Job description

CDR General Services is seeking an experienced Lattice Boom Crane Operator to join our shipyard operations team near Donaldsonville, LA. The ideal candidate will safely operate lattice boom cranes to move heavy materials, equipment, and structural components throughout the shipyard while supporting vessel construction, repair, and maintenance projects. Candidates must have strong attention to safety, excellent communication skills, and prior heavy lift experience in industrial or marine environments.

  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Pay Rate: $28.00 – $29.00 per hour (depending on experience)
Responsibilities
  • Operate lattice boom cranes safely and efficiently in a shipyard environment
  • Lift, move, position, and place heavy materials, steel, machinery, and ship components
  • Perform pre-operational inspections and routine equipment checks
  • Interpret load charts and follow lift plans accurately
  • Communicate with riggers, signal persons, and supervisors during crane operations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and site procedures
  • Monitor crane performance and report mechanical issues promptly
  • Assist with general yard operations as needed
Requirements
  • Proven experience operating lattice boom cranes
  • NCCCO certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Experience in shipyard, marine, construction, or industrial environments preferred
  • Knowledge of crane load capacities, rigging, and safe lifting procedures
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Reliable transportation and strong attendance record
