Job description

The LATAM Investor will be based in Miami and will act as the investment counselor (Investor) for LATAM clients, working in close partnership with the local investment and relationship teams in the client's country of origin (e.g., Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia). The role requires combining global macroeconomic insight, multi-asset investment expertise, disciplined execution, commercial presence, and the ability to translate investment views into clear, client-specific recommendations. The ideal candidate will combine investment discipline with a deep understanding of Latin American business dynamics, regulatory environments, and global macroeconomic trends.
Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with local investment specialists and relationship teams in LATAM countries to deliver offshore investment advisory from Miami, ensuring alignment between local client needs, cross-border constraints, and global investment capabilities.
  • Analyze client portfolios, asset allocation, concentration risks, liquidity needs, performance drivers, and suitability considerations to support investment recommendations and portfolio reviews aligned with all US regulations.
  • Develop structured client meeting narratives that begin with global macroeconomic context, connect market developments to asset class behavior, evaluate the impact on the client's portfolio, and translate conclusions into actionable recommendations.
  • Leverage AI-enabled tools, investment platforms, data analytics, and productivity solutions to enhance market research, client prioritization, portfolio monitoring, investment screening, trend identification, execution discipline, and scalability, while ensuring appropriate human judgment, data confidentiality, and compliance standards.
  • Prepare clear investment recommendations, portfolio review materials, client presentations, and follow-up notes for clients, bankers, local specialists, internal committees, and senior stakeholders.
  • Monitor client portfolios and investment positions, including maturities, cash balances, corporate actions, rating changes, capital calls, market risks, and opportunities for rebalancing or client engagement.
  • Coordinate closely with the local specialist in Montevideo to ensure a seamless "one team" client experience, clear division of responsibilities, timely execution, and consistent messaging.
  • Analyze macroeconomic, political, regulatory, and industry trends affecting investment opportunities across LATAM markets.
  • Support investment implementation and order execution processes, including coordination with trading, operations, legal, tax, compliance, finance, product, and external advisory teams.
  • Contribute to regional strategy development by identifying market themes, competitive dynamics, emerging investment opportunities, and technology-enabled value creation themes.
  • Ensure all investment activities comply with internal governance standards, regulatory requirements, and risk management frameworks.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • License Series 7 is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in private banking, wealth management, investment advisory, asset management, brokerage, portfolio management, investment banking, or a related investment specialist role serving HNW/UHNW clients.
  • Demonstrated experience advising Latin American clients and connecting global market views with portfolio positioning, asset allocation, risk management, and client-specific investment recommendations.
  • Strong knowledge of global macroeconomics, geopolitics, monetary policy, interest rates, currencies, credit markets, equities, alternatives, and the relationship between macro scenarios and asset class performance.
  • Solid understanding of investment products including CDs, time deposits, mutual funds, equities, ETFs, bonds, structured notes, derivatives, FX, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and private credit.
  • Fluent English and native or fully fluent Spanish are required; Portuguese proficiency is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of regional market dynamics, cross-border considerations, regulatory boundaries, suitability, and client coverage requirements.
  • Relevant banking or financial licenses or certifications, such as CFA, CAIA, CFP, FRM, FINRA Series 63, or local market equivalents, as well as AI and Agentic AI certificates are a plus depending on regulatory requirements.

Key Skills and Competencies
  • Strategic thinking and sound investment judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex macroeconomic and investment concepts into clear, structured, client-ready recommendations.
  • High attention to detail, strong time management, execution discipline, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced advisory environment.
  • Commercial presence and emotional control to interact with sophisticated clients, handle objections, negotiate priorities, and influence stakeholders without compromising investment discipline or governance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the local specialist, relationship managers, product teams, compliance, operations, and cross-functional partners.
  • Cultural awareness and adaptability when working across diverse LATAM markets.

Preferred Experience
  • Experience working with high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, family offices, institutional investors, or financial intermediaries in Latin America, preferably in a cross-border private banking or offshore advisory environment.
  • Exposure to traditional and alternative investments, including fixed income, funds, ETFs, structured products, derivatives, FX, hedge funds, private equity, private credit, venture capital, real estate, and other sophisticated investment solutions.
  • Experience supporting client onboarding, portfolio reviews, suitability discussions, investment implementation, trade execution workflows, and post-meeting follow-ups.
  • Established professional network across key LATAM markets.
