CMS Laser Tracker Technician - BWX Technologies, Inc - Barberton, OH
  • Plan, develop and execute dimensional inspections utilizing CMMs, Laser Trackers, Articulated Arm Measuring machines, and 3D Scanning equipment to determine the acceptability of large pressure vessels and steam generating equipment.
  • Review manufacturing plans to determine most suitable methods of inspection.
  • Work with digital scan data to perform dimensional inspections.
  • Develop scanning applications for use by various inspection groups.
  • Assist with writing procedures and work instructions and various other documentation as required.
  • Perform inspection in a manufacturing shop environment.
  • Working from heights using ladders, scaffolding and lifts.
  • Entry into confined space may be required.
  • Coordinate and work with shop supervision, manufacturing team members, and engineering staff.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of am Associates degree, preferred. Equivilant experience may substitue for education.
  • Must be able to demonstrate superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Department of Energy (DOE) security clearance.
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of mechanical drawings and blueprint reading.
  • Knowledge/experience in blueprint reading and basic measurement tools strongly preferred.
  • Moderate to advanced knowledge of ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance Y14.5 Standard.
  • Previous experience with various coordinate measuring systems including CMM's Laser Trackers, Articulated Arm Measuring Machines, and 3d scanning systems.
  • Experience using Innovemetric PolyWorks Inspect and PolyWorks Modeler strongly desired.
  • Preferred experience implementing 3D scanning solutions, Reverse Engineering, and inspection data analysis.

Additional Skills Required:
  • CAD - NX/Unigraphics or Solidworks preferred.
  • Previous use of 3D Coordinate Measurement and Scanning technologies.
  • PolyWorks Inspector and/or PolyWorks Modeler.

Pay: $52,000 - $79,000
The base salary range for this position in Ohio (US-OH) at the start of employment is expected to be between $52,000 and $79,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, the selected job candidate will be employed 'at-will,' unless employed at a location and in a position subject to a collective bargaining agreement. The company further reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment, compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, company or individual department/team performance, and other market factors.
