Position: Staff Interpreter (Court) Status: Salaried, Non-Exempt

Team Lead, Interpreter Development Specialist
Location: Greater Indianapolis
Primary Goal: The Court Certified Staff Interpreter(Spanish Speaking) is a front-line representative of GLOBO, responsible for ensuring communication access through interpretation across various industries - including legal, medical, insurance and educational. With their several years of certified experience, the Staff Interpreter is able to meet most client interpreting needs onsite and remotely. Beyond the scope of interpreting, the Staff Interpreter facilitates communication and expectations between GLOBO and clients, ensuring needs are properly met and resources are properly allocated, and serves as a mentor to new and junior interpreters without direct supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide primarily onsite and occasional remote interpreting in consecutive or simultaneous modalities, according to business needs and depending on circumstances and standards of the industry and jurisdictional rules. Staff Interpreter III must be present at MSC for 80-90% of their workweek.
  • Delivers high-accuracy interpretation in specialized settings (e.g., legal, medical, or technical) while maintaining active professional licensure and advanced certifications relevant to the field
  • Act as a primary liaison between GLOBO and the Customer by providing knowledge of client needs, such as location expectations, and collecting information to maximize resources
  • Maintain professional and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders, including educators, healthcare providers, judicial officers, and fellow interpreters
  • Respond to questions regarding same-day requests or changes, redirecting to an internal GLOBO team as necessary
  • Serves as a lead mentor for junior and entry-level interpreters, facilitating shadowing opportunities and providing constructive, real-time feedback to ensure adherence to professional ethics and linguistic accuracy
  • Oversee the distribution, setup, and recovery of GLOBO-owned interpreting equipment at client sites to ensure operational readiness
  • Strictly adhere to established Professional Codes of Ethics (e.g., NCIHC, NAJIT, or RID) regarding confidentiality, impartiality, and professional boundaries
  • Ensures operational compliance by accurately documenting mileage, reviewing own timecard, and completing required company-specific trainings on schedule
  • If requested, schedule and coordinate interpreting jobs with contract interpreters and the coordinating office and confirming/checking reports that come in monthly, weekly, and twice a day
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements
Required Minimum Education and Experience:
  • 6+ years of interpreting experience as a certified interpreter
  • Maintains appropriate certifications regarding field of expertise
  • ASL: BEI IV, BEI V, NIC Master, BEI Court, BEI Medical
  • Spoken Language: Indiana Court Interpreter Registry, medical or legal certification
  • Experience with Google Docs and Apple/Mac Operating System preferred

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment: This position predominantly operates in a hybrid professional, educational, legal, and/or remote office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand up or to sit for up to eight hours or more at a time. The employee must use his/her hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
