Job description

Land Development Manager

Help Build the Communities Before the First Home Is Built.

At Yingst Building Group, exceptional neighborhoods begin long before construction starts. We're looking for an experienced Land Development Manager to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of our residential land development projects. If you enjoy managing complex projects, solving challenges, and working with a team that values collaboration and continuous improvement, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As our Land Development Manager, you'll oversee residential land development projects from acquisition through final lot delivery, ensuring communities are delivered on schedule, within budget, and ready to support successful homebuilding operations.

  • Manage residential land development projects from pre-construction through final completion
  • Coordinate site development activities including clearing, grading, utilities, stormwater, roadwork, and erosion control
  • Monitor project schedules and proactively resolve delays, risks, and project challenges
  • Manage development budgets, change orders, and overall project costs
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and compliance
  • Coordinate with engineers, surveyors, municipalities, utility providers, environmental consultants, and contractors
  • Review contractor invoices, pay applications, and change orders
  • Assist with contractor selection, bid solicitation, and vendor negotiations
  • Coordinate permitting, municipal approvals, and regulatory compliance
  • Partner with Construction, Sales, Purchasing, Estimating, and Leadership to support community planning and lot delivery
  • Provide regular project updates, forecasts, and recommendations to leadership
  • Identify opportunities to improve development processes, schedules, and overall project performance

Success in this role is measured by:

  • Delivering finished lots on schedule to support production goals
  • Managing development budgets and controlling project costs
  • Maintaining strong relationships with municipalities, consultants, contractors, and utility providers
  • Anticipating and resolving issues before they impact schedules
  • Collaborating effectively across departments to support community growth
  • Driving continuous improvement in land development processes

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in land development, site construction, civil construction, or residential construction management
  • Strong understanding of residential development processes, utilities, stormwater systems, and municipal approvals
  • Ability to read and interpret civil plans, engineering drawings, and development documents
  • Excellent project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction or project management software is a plus
  • Valid driver's license
